We are a locally owned and operated tour out of Homer, Alaska. The “end-of-road” doesn’t mean the adventure stops.
Here at Alaska Bear Adventures, we thrive on providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you, your friends, and your family viewing Alaska coastal brown bears. We provide small groups with personal guides to make your experience one of a kind. With multiple trip options, we can provide this incredible tour to a majority of people.

Jared began his aviation career in Alaska, flying across diverse and challenging landscapes—from Denali to the remote Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, and finally to Homer, where he guided at Alaska Bear Adventures for three seasons.
After starting a family, he transitioned to flying internationally as a pilot of the Boeing 777 and 747. Now based in Anchorage, he has returned to the Homer area and is enjoying sharing all that Alaska has to offer with his family.
As our new Director of Operations, Jared brings a wealth of aviation knowledgeable, as well as flight and regional experience. We are very happy to have Jared a part of our team once again.

Tim is a farm kid from Ohio, who was offered three dollars an hour to sand wooden spars for an antique airplane, thus beginning his career in aircraft maintenance. He has been a pilot for 23 years and had his pilot's license before his driver's license. Now he's been in Alaska for over a decade and has 3500 hours flying in and around Kachemak Bay. When he's not flying or maintaining our aircraft, he and his wife are homeschooling their kids and happily working on their off-grid homestead north of Homer. Tim takes a lot of pride in maintaining our aircraft, he can often be found laying on his back scrubbing the planes ensuring they are a fleet we can be proud of. You may not see him often but he is a vital part of the ABA team!

AJ Matyk is an Alaskan pilot that loves to fly both summer and winter here. He has extensive backcountry experience on wheels, floats, and skis.
AJ always has a big smile and loves sharing Alaska's beauty with friends and visitors alike.
